She attended boarding school from the age of 7 to 9 in London. After that her family returned in Toronto (Canada) where they were raised for her entire life. Contractor was a student and a dancer of classical style in Toronto. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts, a specialized public arts high school where she not only danced but studied theater as well. Contractor started acting at the age of 16, following nearly 10 years in dance. When she graduated from high school she was awarded a full award to Toronto's University of Toronto, where she earned a master's degree in theater and a dual major in sociology and psychology. Contractor was offered the lead role in Pericles after a one-year stint in University. She auditioned for the part during the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and received. Her performance was lauded in the 92 plays that she performed in. The play won her the 2002 award for the best production of the Year, as judged by Canadian Critics. The actor was invited to take part in the conservatory, where the top eight men and four females are selected to take a crash course of 20 weeks in classical theatre, which she gladly accepted. Contractor got a place in the next season of shows and eventually landed the role as Hermia In A Midsummer Night's Dream.
